We've all heard the expression "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Well, at Spyderco it doesn't quite work that way as they are constantly improving their products. It's so much a part of their corporate culture that they've coined a term for it: C.Q.I., which is an acronym for "Constant Quality Improvement. If Spyderco can refine or improve on the ergonomics of a design, or a way to get more cutting performance from one of their knives, change it they do!
The last major "overhaul" of the Para Military pattern was back in 2010. At that time they narrowed the profile of the handle, making it more comfortable in the hand as well as the pocket. They kept the CPM-S30V blade steel, but thinned the profile a bit and increased the blade length. They also added additional jimping to the spine and finger choil for better user control. On the inside they incorporated a new bushing pivot system that generates a more fluid and smooth opening action. The lanyard was also enlarged for more carry options. The results is a Para Military 2 that's made with pride in their Golden, Colorado factory.
Left handers rejoice! The Spyderco Para Military™ 2, hands down one of our most popular and in-demand models, is now available in a purpose-designed left-handed version.
