Overview & First Impressions
MagnaCut is the steel everyone wants and few brands deliver at honest prices, so the VK-NAVI BT2404 deserves its spotlight: CPM MagnaCut behind a clean titanium frame lock, four trims, midtech money. Bestech's VK family has quietly become the place where premium steels meet sane pricing, and the NAVI is the current peak of that idea among Bestech knives.
Materials & Construction
CPM MagnaCut brought a genuinely new balance to the steel world: the wear resistance of the best powder steels with toughness that shrugs off contacts that would chip lesser blades, plus corrosion resistance good enough to forget. The blade here runs stonewashed at a working hardness, ground thin enough to show off the steel's fine grain. The titanium frame is bead-blasted with even chamfers, the lock face carries a steel insert, and the whole build passes the thumbnail-and-wobble tests with room to spare.
Design & Details
The blade is a purposeful drop point with a broad belly and a reinforced tip, sized around three inches for the broadest possible duty range. The handle is a smooth-contoured slab with a single elegant inlay line on the dressed trims, and the bare titanium versions are studies in restraint. The clip rides deep, the lanyard hole is standard, and the detent is set with the confidence of a factory that has made a few thousand frame locks already.
Real-World Use
MagnaCut made the test period feel unfair: three weeks of mixed carry between touches, a strop restoring the bite every time, and not a whisper of corrosion through sweat and rain. The frame lock engages early and showed no movement, and one-handed operation is smooth in both directions. For people who want one knife to carry for years without edge anxiety, this is the exact tool the steel was invented for.
Ownership Notes
Care is almost optional: seasonal pivot oil and an occasional wipe are the entire schedule, though a strop keeps the MagnaCut edge at its frightening best. When sharpening finally comes, the steel responds well to diamond stones at standard angles. The titanium trims wear gracefully, clip hardware is standard Torx, and a single bead on the lanyard hole completes the carry without fighting the deep clip. For a folder carrying the most anticipated steel of the decade, the NAVI stays remarkably grounded, which is why it leads the folding knives conversation in this price class.
Who Is This For?
The VK-NAVI is for the buyer who has read every MagnaCut thread and wants the steel without the boutique wait or boutique invoice. It suits hard users, coastal carriers, and collectors who want the flagship steel of the decade in a dependable midtech chassis. If your needs are humble, cheaper siblings cover them; if you want the best steel currently fit into this price class, stop reading and start choosing trims.
Final Verdict
The BT2404 is the best argument in the catalog for shopping the VK family: MagnaCut, titanium, a trustworthy frame lock, and four trims on EdcMall at a price that makes the big-brand MagnaCut folders look overpriced. Pick the bare titanium for purity or the inlay version for presence, and enjoy carrying the steel everyone else is still waitlisted for.
