Trivisa Scarab-DM JM03: Mirror M390 in a Titanium Crossbar
Trivisa Scarab-DM JM03-DM-M with mirror finished M390 blade and titanium crossbar lock handle

Overview & First Impressions

A mirror polished blade is a commitment. It shows every fingerprint, every smudge, every faint scratch, and it makes a knife look like it belongs on a shelf rather than in a pocket. The Scarab-DM wears one anyway, over 2.99 inches of M390 at 60 plus or minus two HRC, in a titanium frame with a crossbar lock. It is the dressiest knife Trivisa makes, and the interesting question is whether you can live with it.

Materials & Construction

M390 with a full mirror polish and a swedge, which is the finish that turns a working steel into a piece of jewellery. M390 at this hardness will hold an edge through a lot of cardboard, and the polish makes the edge line easy to see, which is actually useful when you are checking for chips. The titanium handle is contoured and light, and the crossbar lock means ambidextrous one handed opening and closing. Ceramic bearings run the pivot.

Design & Details

The silhouette is the same slim drop point as the rest of the Scarab family, with a swedge along the spine and a subtle harpoon at the tip. The crossbar sits high in the handle where a thumb naturally falls, and the thumb studs are chamfered rather than knurled. What changes with the DM is purely the finish: the polished blade against the matte titanium frame creates a hard contrast that makes the knife read as two separate objects joined together.

Real-World Use

This is a knife for careful work, which is not an insult. Opening mail, cutting tape, trimming leather, slicing fruit on a board, cutting a cigar. The crossbar lock makes it easy to open and close with one hand while holding something else, which is the real advantage of the mechanism. What it does not want is abrasive material, wet hands a lot, or being tossed into a tool bag where the polish will meet a screwdriver.

Ownership Notes

Mirror finishes need a soft cloth and nothing else. Wipe the blade after every use, keep a thin film of oil on it, and never use an abrasive pad or a metal polish with grit. Sharpen on a fine stone and finish on a strop, because a coarse stone will leave scratches that require re-polishing to remove. Keep the crossbar channel clear of lint and oil the spring lightly. Store it in a sleeve if you care about the polish, which you do. Mirror polished folding knives are usually display pieces, and the EDC knives that survive a pocket are the ones with a stonewash, so be honest with yourself before you buy this one.

Who Is This For?

Buy it as a dress knife or a display piece that you actually carry on good days. It suits collectors of the Scarab line, people who want a mirror blade without a custom price, and anyone who likes the crossbar lock. Skip it if your knife lives in a workshop, if you hate wiping fingerprints, or if you want a blade you can abuse.

Final Verdict

The Scarab-DM is a beautiful object that happens to be a competent knife. M390 and a titanium crossbar frame do the engineering, the polish does the rest, and the price stays in production territory. Trivisa has been releasing Scarab variants at a pace that is hard to follow, and EdcMall carries this mirror finished JM03 alongside the satin and stonewashed versions.
