The Bestechman Dundee BMK01-W-1 pairs a practical folding design with the distinctive warmth of a red burl wood handle. Its 3.35-inch D2 tool-steel blade features a stonewashed and satin finish and a stated hardness of 59–61 HRC. D2 is valued for hardness and wear resistance, helping the blade retain its edge; because it is not fully stainless, dry and care for it after use to help prevent corrosion. A liner lock secures the blade open during use, while the deep-carry pocket clip supports left- or right-side carry. Measuring 8.07 inches overall and weighing 2.79 ounces, the Dundee balances useful reach with a lightweight feel. Designed by Ostap Hel and made in China, it offers a refined choice for everyday carry.
D2 Blade Introduction
D2 tool steel is a high-carbon, high-chromium air-hardening alloy renowned for its exceptional hardness and wear resistance. It bridges the gap between carbon and stainless steel, offering formidable edge retention and toughness suitable for heavy-duty tasks. However, its high chromium content is insufficient for a "stainless" classification, making it prone to corrosion if not properly maintained. Additionally, its extreme structural density makes it notoriously difficult to sharpen, requiring advanced abrasives and patience to restore a keen edge.
