The Bestechman Smuga BMK22D features an AEB-L blade, a specialized steel renowned for exceptional toughness and razor-sharp edges. Its uniform microstructure with evenly distributed chromium carbides delivers excellent stability and chip resistance, ideal for precision cutting. The 3.55" blade is hardened to 61-62 HRC via cryogenic treatment and finished with gold PVD coating. Housed in a light beige G10 handle, this liner lock folder measures 7.92" overall and weighs just 2.75 oz. The deep-carry pocket clip supports left or right carry. Designed by Grzegorz Grabarski, this EDC knife balances performance with portability, though AEB-L requires basic maintenance to maintain its edge and prevent corrosion.
AEB-L Blade Introduction
AEB-L is a specialized razor blade steel celebrated for its exceptional toughness, ease of sharpening, and ability to take an incredibly fine, razor-sharp edge. Thanks to its uniform microstructure with very small, evenly distributed chromium carbides, it offers excellent stability and resistance to chipping, making it a favorite for kitchen and thin-geometry knives. However, its primary trade-off is relatively low wear resistance, meaning it loses its peak sharpness faster than high-carbide powder steels. Additionally, while stainless, its lower free chromium content requires basic care to prevent corrosion.
