Kansept PryMate G008A9 Multifunctional Titanium Tool
The Kansept PryMate G008A9 is a titanium multi tool built around a simple idea: the jobs that wreck knife tips should not be done with a knife. It gives you a pry bar, a bottle opener, a nail puller, a flat-head screwdriver and M4, M8 and M10 hex wrenches in one 129 mm titanium body, with a finger hole for grip control and a pocket clip so it stays where you put it. Designer Sebastian Irawan came to it from industrial design, and you can tell — the cutouts are structural rather than decorative. If you carry a folding knives daily, this is the piece that stops it getting abused. It belongs in your EDC tools kit, in the same drawer as your pry bars and titanium pry bars, and in any EDC gear setup that gets used rather than photographed.
Every Function on the PryMate G008A9
- Pry bar with a proper chisel tip. Thick enough to take real leverage without folding, which is exactly what a knife tip cannot do.
- Bottle opener machined into the frame. Adds no weight and no moving parts.
- Flat-head screwdriver tip. Handles the loose cabinet screw or the battery compartment on a gadget.
- Three hex wrench sizes: M4, M8 and M10. Cut into the body, so they cost nothing in thickness or weight.
- Nail puller and glass breaker tip. A pointed, hardened end intended for emergency egress.
- Finger hole for grip control. Lets you choke up on the tool and apply real torque without it twisting.
- Full titanium construction. Will not rust, and at this size it barely registers in a pocket.
- Green anodised with purple splash accents. Colour that cannot chip off, because it is an oxide layer rather than paint.
Jobs the PryMate Actually Gets Used For
- Opening taped boxes and blister packs without risking a knife tip.
- Lifting a stuck staple, clip or panel at a workbench or on a jobsite.
- Tightening or loosening a fastener with the built-in hex wrenches.
- Opening a bottle at a campsite, a tailgate or a kitchen bench.
- Emergency glass egress when the tool is carried specifically for that purpose.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the PryMate have a blade?
No. It is deliberately blade-free, which is why it travels well and why it exists alongside your knife rather than replacing it.
Which hex sizes are included?
M4, M8 and M10 wrench flats are machined directly into the tool body.
Is the glass breaker rated for emergency use?
It is a hardened point designed to concentrate force on tempered glass in an emergency. Treat it as emergency equipment, not as a routine punching tool.
Will the anodised colour wear off?
It cannot chip or peel, because anodising is an oxide layer grown into the titanium rather than a coating. Heavy abrasion will polish it toward bare grey over time.
Is it heavy enough to be annoying on a keychain?
At the size of a large key it adds noticeable but reasonable weight. Most people clip it to a pocket rather than hang it with keys.
Glossary of Key Terms
EDC pry barA small flat-nosed pocket tool built for prying, scraping and lifting. It exists so you stop abusing a knife tip for jobs that a blade is not designed for.
Titanium
A light, strong, corrosion-proof metal. It will not rust, it accepts anodised colour, and it has a warm feel in the hand that most steels cannot match.
Anodising
An electrochemical process that grows a coloured oxide layer on titanium. The colour is not paint or dye — it is a controlled oxide thickness, so it cannot chip or peel, though it can be polished back to bare grey.
Bottle opener
A hook or lip machined into the tool that lifts a crown cap. It adds no weight and no parts, which is why it appears on almost every EDC pry bar.
Hex wrench / Allen key
A hexagonal driver sized for M4, M8 and M10 fasteners. The wrench flats are cut into the body of the tool, so it costs nothing in weight or thickness.
Glass breaker
A hardened, pointed tip designed to concentrate force on a small area to shatter tempered glass. On a keychain tool it is intended for emergency egress, not for routine prying.
Pocket clip
A bent spring-steel or titanium strip that keeps the tool in place at the top of a pocket. Titanium clips resist bending better than steel ones over repeated pocket cycles.
Koch Tools
The pocket-tool design house founded by Justin Koch. Its designs popularised the modern titanium EDC pry bar, and Kansept manufactures several of them.
Who Should Buy the PryMate G008A9
- You already carry an EDC knife and want the right tool for prying, scraping and driving screws.
- You want a genuinely pocketable tool built from titanium rather than cast zinc alloy.
- You like Sebastian Irawan or Koch Tools designs and want a Kansept-produced example.
- You travel blade-free and still want useful capability in your pocket.
- You need a small, well-made gift for someone who already has every gadget.
Who Should Skip It
- You need a full-length pry bar for demolition or heavy mechanical work.
- You want a knife — this tool has no cutting edge.
- You need a load-rated climbing carabiner; this is a pocket tool, not life-safety equipment.
- You are hard on tools and will not maintain an anodised finish.
Care & Maintenance
- Wipe the titanium body with a soft cloth after handling; anodised colour sits in a thin oxide layer and abrasive polish will wear it back to raw grey.
- Do not use metal polish, scouring pads or abrasive compounds on anodised titanium — warm water and mild soap only.
- Avoid prolonged contact with chlorine, ammonia, bleach and strong acids, which attack both the anodising and the base metal over time.
- Re-torque the body screws every few months with a correctly sized driver. Titanium threads gall if you overtighten or cross-thread them.
- Put a drop of light oil on the pivot or gate spring periodically to keep it snappy and to slow wear on the mating surfaces.
- Expect anodised colour to develop character with daily carry. Scuffs on titanium are cosmetic; they do not affect structural strength.
- Dry the tool fully after it gets wet. Titanium itself will not rust, but trapped moisture attacks steel hardware, springs and screws.
- Store it clipped to a pouch or on a shelf rather than loose in a bag with keys and coins that will scratch the finish.
- Inspect the screws and any spring elements every few months and replace anything that has worked loose before it drops out.
