While many production knives attempt to create visual interest by inserting G10, Micarta, or carbon fiber overlays into the handle scales, composite materials introduce potential weak points. Over time, soft inlays can absorb oils, harbor dirt, or separate from the handle frame under harsh environmental exposure.

The Nyrrdreki series avoids composite handle inserts entirely, opting instead for a full Grade 5 (TC4) titanium chassis across its entire BT2607 lineup. Aesthetic character and tactile grip are engineered directly into the metal using high-precision CNC 3D milling.

Aesthetically pleasing handle lines must still serve a clear functional purpose when work needs to be done. The Nyrrdreki’s chassis features broad chamfered perimeters that mimic organic contours, allowing the handle to fill the palm naturally during heavy slicing.

The absence of flat inlay seams creates a smooth, continuous surface that won't dig into fingers or snag pocket seams. To maintain grip traction without relying on aggressive handle texturing, the titanium surfaces receive specialized micro-peened or stonewashed treatments. These finishes provide a warm, high-friction tactile feel under wet conditions while naturally concealing fine pocket scratches accumulated over months of continuous carry.

A rigid, hand-filling chassis provides the foundation required to maximize the cutting power of the blade. The broad modified cleaver profile on the Nyrrdreki is forged from Böhler M390 Microclean powder metallurgy steel.

Packed with vanadium carbides and a high free-chromium concentration (~20%), M390 super-steel delivers outstanding abrasive wear resistance and total immunity to corrosion. The sweeping continuous belly and hollow-ground primary bevels allow the broad blade to glide through abrasive corrugated cardboard, heavy rubber hose, zip ties, and fibrous cordage without binding.

To ensure safety during high-force cutting tasks, the Nyrrdreki incorporates an integrated titanium Frame Lock mechanism directly into the non-clip handle scale.

A hardened steel lockbar insert is secured to the face of the titanium locking arm with a flush-milled screw. This insert provides a clean steel-on-steel interface against the M390 blade tang, completely eliminating titanium lock-stick during single-handed disengagement.
