The concept behind the NYRRDREKI was to create a compact cleaver folder with a unique personality. When the knife is closed, I wanted its silhouette to resemble the head of a dragon. The shape of the blade, the handle, and the large round cleaver hole all work together to create that impression.

The round hole wasn't originally designed as an opening method. I added it because I felt a cleaver should have a classic cleaver hole, and it completed the dragon-inspired profile. When I received the first prototype, I started playing with it and accidentally discovered that the hole could be used for a pinky flip. It wasn't planned at all, but it worked surprisingly well and became one of the knife's most fun and distinctive features.

M390 Blade Introduction

M390 is an advanced powder-metallurgical stainless steel utilizing high chromium and vanadium content to deliver exceptional wear resistance and industry-leading corrosion resilience. It excels at retaining a razor-sharp edge under prolonged use; however, this extreme hardness renders the blade notably difficult to sharpen or reprofile without diamond abrasives. Additionally, its fine microstructure, while offering superior edge stability, sacrifices some structural toughness and may be more prone to chipping under heavy lateral stress.
