Description
The Bestechman Smuga BMK22E features an AEB-L blade, a specialized steel prized for exceptional toughness and razor-sharp edges. Its uniform microstructure with evenly distributed chromium carbides delivers excellent chip resistance, ideal for precision cutting. While it requires regular maintenance due to lower wear resistance, the 61-62 HRC cryogenic-treated blade maintains superior edge geometry. The knife combines a 3.55" blade with a comfortable 4.37" black G10 handle, weighing just 2.75 oz. The liner lock mechanism ensures secure deployment, while the deep-carry pocket clip accommodates left or right carry. Designed by Grzegorz Grabarski and made in China, this folding knife balances performance and portability for everyday carry and outdoor use.
AEB-L Blade Introduction
AEB-L is a specialized razor blade steel celebrated for its exceptional toughness, ease of sharpening, and ability to take an incredibly fine, razor-sharp edge. Thanks to its uniform microstructure with very small, evenly distributed chromium carbides, it offers excellent stability and resistance to chipping, making it a favorite for kitchen and thin-geometry knives. However, its primary trade-off is relatively low wear resistance, meaning it loses its peak sharpness faster than high-carbide powder steels. Additionally, while stainless, its lower free chromium content requires basic care to prevent corrosion.
